My DVR is full of classic TV series that never seem to get old. My personal favorite classic TV shows are listed below.
Friends is a comedy sitcom created by Marta Kauffman and David Crane that aired from 1994 to 2004. The sitcom centered on the lives of six twenty-something friends who were struggling to thrive in Manhattan. The six friends included Rachel Green (Jennifer Aniston), Monica Geller (Courteney Cox), Phoebe Buffay (Lisa Kudrow), Joey Tribbiani (Matt LeBlanc), Monica’s brother, Dr. Ross Geller (David Schwimmer), and Chandler Bing (Matthew Perry). The series followed the six friends as they experienced personal ups and downs, but always managed to rely on the compassion, companionship and support of each other to survive. Each episode of Friends either began or ended in a local coffee shop where the six friends and sometimes special guests would sit in their favorite sport and discuss their current events.
Seinfeld is a comedy show that aired from 1990 to 1998. The comedy was created by Larry David and Jerry Seinfeld. Seinfeld also starred in the series. In the show, Jerry Seinfeld (himself) plays a struggling New York City comedian who is trying to get his career off the ground and attempting to have a successful personal life as well. Jerry’s eccentric best friends, Elaine Benes (Julia Louis-Dreyfuss), Kramer (Michael Richards) and George Costanza (Jason Alexander) add a bit of hilarity to the sitcom. While Jerry is busy trying to run his own life, he is also put on the spot by his demanding friends who usually desperately need his help and advice. Elaine is constantly having problems with the many men in her life, and always needs Jerry to bail her out of difficult situations. Kramer is always working a wacky get rich scheme and even though he vows not to Jerry always seems to get sucked into Kramer’s drama. Meanwhile, George is a chronically depressed man whose tendency to lie gets him in incredibly difficult positions. For this reason, George always turns to Jerry for solutions to his problems.
3.) Full House-
Full House is a comedy series that was created by Jeff Franklin and first aired from 1987 to 1995. The series stars a young widow, Danny Tanner (Bob Saget), who is left to raise his three young daughters, D.J (Candace Cameron Bure), Stephanie (Jodie Sweetin) and Michelle (Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen), alone after his wife dies. Thankfully, Danny’s two best friends, Joey Gladstone (Dave Coulier) and Jesse Katsopolis (John Stamos), agree to move in with Danny and the girls to help out. Together the three men do their best to raise happy, healthy young girls. When Jesse decides to get married, his new wife Becky Katsopolis (Lori Loughlin), provides a mother figure that the girls desperately need. When three men struggle to solve the problems of three young girls, hilarious situations unfold.
Each of these three series are must see TV that never gets old. Even with dozens of new shows that come out every season, I can always count on these TV shows to pull at my heart strings, make me laugh and keep me entertained.
